CHROMASCAPE 072

ICE ON COOT LAKE ON A MARCH AFTERNOON

I made this Chromascape while walking around Boulder Reservoir on a crisp winter afternoon. Coot Lake is a small body of water that sits adjacent to the reservoir and was still frozen. The sky was mostly overcast, and the flat light was giving the ice a beautiful green hue. The ice itself showed signs of going through several freeze thaw cycles with lots of dark cracks and gaps filled with fresh bright white ice. The deep orange of the dormant reeds and grasses surrounding the lake were illuminated for just a few minutes by a ray of sun peaking though the clouds and contrasted nicely with the frozen lake. The hazy blue sky to the north completed the winter afternoon scene. This is Chromascape 072.  ~ Marc
