CHROMASCAPE 060
FIRST MORNING LIGHT ON A FROZEN DILLON RESERVOIR
I made this chromascape on my way to a Nordic ski race Eirwen had this past February in Leadville, CO. I set my camera up in the pre-dawn darkness on the bank of Dillon Reservoir which was covered in fresh snow and waited for the sunrise. It was 6° and perfectly still out. The sky began to glow and morph though a full palette of colors as the sun came up. Chromascape 60 is a Colorado bluebird sky with sunlight illuminating the snow-capped mountains and richly colored earth below. The sunlight has yet to touch the snow-covered reservoir or her banks that are reflecting that wonderful blue sky.
As an interesting point of reference, this image was captured almost 30 minutes after Chromascape 61. It’s fascinating to see how the same scene yields very different images as the light changes. ~ Marc
