CHROMASCAPE 082
THE MOUNTAINS SURROUNDING BARKER RESERVOIR AT SUNRISE
Living in a small mountain town near the top of the Continental Divide has its plusses. One of those is beautiful light and colors that change with the seasons. Add a body of water to double that light and mix the colors, you have endless opportunities to make Chromascapes (or straightforward beautiful mountainscape photographs).
This image was made from the dam at the top of Boulder Canyon looking west over Barker Reservoir at the town of Nederland and Eldora Ski Resort above it. Nederland sits 3000’ above the city of Boulder and the plains to the east. Because of this geographic feature, the sun actually rises “below” Nederland and we have very interesting and colorful sunrise skies. Chromascape 082 captures the first sunlight touching the mountains surrounding Nederland and those colors reflected in both the still water and moving currents of the reservoir. ~ Marc
