CHROMASCAPE 093

SUNSET OVER SAN FRANCISCO BAY FROM NELLA TERRA CELLARS

I had the pleasure of attending my nephew’s wedding at the beautiful Nella Terra Cellars nestled into the top of the mountains in Sunol, CA. About an hour before sunset, the sky clouded over and began to rain lightly. I thought the evening would be a bust for Chromascapes and settled into thoroughly enjoying the festivities with my family. Then while we were watching the freshly married couple cut the cake, the sun suddenly dropped below the cloud layer and lit up the hill behind them in brilliant gold. At that moment, I knew I had to try and make a Chromascape. Once the cake was cut, I hightailed it to the highest ridge at the vineyards and pointed my lens west into the setting sun. I only made five exposures before I lost the light. Lucky the third frame was a keeper. It captures the brilliant sunset looking out over the Bay towards San Francisco. The sharp thin bright yellow line traversing the lower part of the frame is the last smidge of the sun as it sets behind San Francisco. Below that is the water in the Bay reflecting the magnificent colors in the various cloud layers in the sky. This is Chromascape 093. ~ Marc
