Rincon Point is just southeast of Santa Barbara and is a popular surf spot due to the way the beach and cliffs extend far out into the Pacific. Photographically, it also allowed me to photograph the ocean with almost 270 degrees of view. Yippee!

This photograph was made in the first cool hews of morning light before the sunrise. I arrived while it was still dark and set up at the edge of the cliffs overlooking Rincon Point and the beach below. Looking up the beach to the northwest, the lights along the Santa Barbara coast and in the surrounding mountains were clearly visible. Closer in were the bright lights on a pier extending out from the red cliffs of Carpinteria Bluffs Nature Preserve. This is Chromascape 101.  ~ Marc
